ISUZU TRUCK UPGRADES

Since purchasing our Little Isuzu NPR 2wd truck, we have produced a selection of upgrade parts.  For a full list of our current parts line up click here.

Cold Side Intercooler Pipe Replacement.

Most popular is the intercooler pipe that is renowned from blowing off from factory. Whether the truck is new or old, they all do it eventually and more then likely it will be at the most awkward and worst moment.

The factory pipe on the passenger side of the engine after the intercooler combined with the factory dual layer S type seal seams to be a once removed type of thing.  If undone or removed once for some reason be it for servicing or just blew off, they just don't seem to want to stay on again no matter what upgraded clamps or seals are used.

Our aluminium pipe completely eliminates the issue, supplied with high quality silicone joiner hoses and world class JCS Hi Grip clamps ensure the pipe once fitted is there for the long haul. All sorted.  We CNC machine the air flow sensor port for perfect fitment and seal.
We have literally shipped these pipes all round the country, helping people that are stranded on the side of the deserted roads.  We also send these to some of the top adventure truck builders all round the country as they have become a must have requirement for all builds heading out the door.

NPS intercooler Upgrade.

To match the intercooler pipe we have a completely custom upgraded intercooler. The factory intercooler isn't bad, but only up to a point. We have found stress testing that lighter trucks wont over stress the intercooler too much, but the NPS trucks all geared up for adventure weighing a lot and towing heavy can definitely push the intercooler beyond its efficiency.  Once the intake temps start to rise and the intercooler temp creeps up in situations like motoring up long hills or in sand it will soon spiral out of control.  When intake air temps go up, power goes down. The engine computer will always detect the heat and limit the power of the engine and use excessive fuel to cool internally.
An intercooler upgrade like our custom made proprietary designed PWR Core and CNC end tanks take care of that. Keeping temps within 20-30 degrees over ambient ensuring safe motoring up the long hills.

Fitting to single cab trucks is very easy. Tilt the cab, unbolt the intercooler, remove the pipes, then just slide the standard intercooler up and out then slide our core back down and in.
Crew cab trucks are definitely more involved. Like many mechanical jobs to be done where the cab cant tilt to allow room, the cab will need to be lifted to get the job done, pretty normal for any truck work shop or Isuzu truck service centre.

Isuzu NPR/NPS 4HK1 5.2 litre 4 cylinder Catch Can Kit

There is dozens of universal fit "generic" catch can kits on the market that could be made to work. But universal means far from Ideal. Anyone can dress up a basic unit to look great, but its still a very basic unit that doesn't flow what the engine needs.

Being a 5.2 litre 4 cylinder and the power plant of a vehicle that could weigh over 10 tonnes, the engine can be overloaded and pushed hard, to the point of excessive engine blow by over flowing the factory PCV valve the and oil passing through the intercooler system.   Which is likely to be too much flow for the generic universal kits.

We worked with BOSS VENT right here on the Gold Coast to obtain their Dual canister SUPERMAX Catch cans and wiring harness to make our own Kit specific to the Isuzu trucks, the Supermax kit can flow 550 kw or 600lt/min of blow by and has an Integrated crankcase pressure regulation and emergency over pressure bypass as standard if needed.

To use the BossVent parts we designed our own adaptor fittings that are CNC machined to fully integrate into the factory breather fittings from the engine cover and the intercooler pipe, we supply 19mm hose and high quality fittings to offer the simplest installation we can. We designed and make our own mounting bracket that is laser cut and TIG welded with nuts and bolts that positions the catch can to stand off the chassis to ensure it doesn't interferer with anything.

Why we chose BossVent.  We searched for the Best flowing design we could find to absolutely ensure no back pressure issues for the 5.2l, when we found the Supermax is able to flow incredible number numbers, we had to test it, being dual canister and also internal electrical sensors for pressure levels we were very confident it will not give us any of the issues universal catch cans are common for. it is a well known fact that engine seal failure caused by a build up of pressure caused by blocked filters and lack of servicing will cause the catch can to not be able to flow what the engine requires, when the engine crank case over pressurises the weakest seal will likely give way, most commonly these are the front and rear main seals of the cranks shaft or the oil seal in a turbocharger.  Of which are very expensive repairs and definitely not worth the cheap catch can causing the issue.

  • BossVent catch cans feature smart in-vehicle oil level and blocked filter alarms
  • Supplied with in cabin over fuel alert light and wiring harness. Your choice if you want to plug it in an use it the alert or just get the can drained using the drain port at service.
  • Extremely compact & attractive with robust moulded design and anodised aluminium hardware available in a range of colours
  • Simple to install and maintain, with easy-change filters and handy oil drain point
  • Industry standard high efficiency filter elements utilised in the design
  • Integrated crankcase pressure regulation and emergency over pressure bypass as standard

Our laser cut mount suits one particular location on the passenger side near the fuse box but it can be mounted anywhere else to suit your application.  Some single cab trucks in bus form can have a reservoir in the same location as our bracket and some crew cab trucks may have a the dual AC unit there.  In these situations the catch can can be mounted anywhere else that suits. If you believe you may require more rubber hose to suit your application let us know when ordering so we can include it in your kit.   Our kit retails for $1050 and bolts in with absolute ease.  Click here to see our store.
